MTI

The AM-MSM-36 is an automated arc melting system designed for high-throughput and autonomous experiments in the condensed phase. Its revolver-type sample stage can hold 32 samples, approximately 5 grams each, per batch. The system features a load-lock chamber that can be pneumatically raised for easy sample loading and unloading. Additionally, the arc-melting stage allows for in-situ optical measurements or ion scattering. This modular system can operate independently for high-throughput experiments or integrate with the MTI automated materials preparation system for autonomous operations. It comes with complimentary software that enhances instrumental communication and data acquisition.

SPECIFICATIONS:

General Process
  1. Place the pelletized sample on the sample stage and close the chamber.
  2. Set the melting parameters, including time, current, and cycles.
  3. The x-y stage transfers the sample to the arc-melting copper hearth, which then raises the sample to the top melting chamber.
  4. The system awaits approval to begin melting. Upon approval, the process commences with the preset settings.
  5. After completion, the hearth retracts to the load-lock chamber.
  6. The x-y stage repositions the sample to its original spot and prepares for the next one.
  7. This procedure is repeated for each sample until all 32 are melted and examined.
  8. Finally, remove the sample tray and position the next one on the stage
