Spectroscopic Window

redox.me

Those windows are made of materials commonly used in spectro-electrochemical cells. Both surfaces are optically polished. The edges are chamfered to reduce the risk of breaking during the cell assembly.

Application note
Fused quartz windows (JGS1 and JGS3) are preferred materials for transmission spectro-electrochemistry. JGS1 provides high optical transmission in the 185–2500 nm range, while JGS3 covers 260–3500 nm. Sapphire windows offer broad spectral transmission from the UV to the mid-IR (150–5500 nm); the specified crystallographic orientation is the default choice for Raman spectroscopy. Calcium fluoride (CaF₂), transmitting from 130 to 10 000 nm, and zinc selenide (ZnSe), with transmission from 600 to 22 000 nm, are commonly used window materials for infrared spectroscopy.
